Health Reform & The Employer
Now that both the Senate and House of Representatives have passed health care reform bills, it seems increasingly likely that some sort of bill will emerge from a conference committee and be sent to President Obama for his signature. Any such bill is certain to have a substantial impact on employers – whether or not they sponsor a health plan for their employees. Although most of the provisions in the pending bills would not be effective for another one to three years, others will apply right away. And even those provisions with deferred effective dates may require years of preparation. So it’s not too early to take a look at how health care reform might affect employers.
